Damian McNamara is an award-winning journalist and science/health writer who brings 25+ years of experience writing for corporate clients, physicians and consumer audiences.
Damian most recently worked as a Senior Subject Matter Expert/Science Writer for the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), part of HHS, as a Federal contractor. BARDA partners with industry to develop vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics to help protect Americans in the event of a chemical, biological, radiologic or nuclear incident and other public health emergencies.
Damian also worked at rbb Communications in Miami on accounts including Cleveland Clinic Florida, the Florida International University School of Nursing, Hilton Worldwide Hotels, and many more. He also worked on the marketing teams at CareCloud and Modernizing Medicine, two physician practice software firms, and has written extensively for Medscape Medical News and WebMD. Damian has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Binghamton, N.Y. and a Master’s degree in Science, Health and Environmental Reporting from New York University.
Damian likes to travel internationally and visit historic sites with his family – including hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, visiting Chichen Itza in the Mexican jungle and touring the ruins of Pompeii. When home, he enjoys cooking, practicing a second language on unsuspecting native Spanish speakers, and walking his chocolate lab Jackson.
